Anjolie Ela Menon to receive Dayawati Modi Award

Dayawati Modi Foundation for Art, Culture and Education has announced that this year’s Dayawati Modi Award for Art, Culture and Education will be conferred upon India’s leading contemporary artist, Anjolie Ela Menon.

Anjolie Ela Menon has created a name
for herself in India and internationally. She has held 48 solo exhibitions including retrospectives at the Jehangir Art Gallery, Lalit Kala Akademi and National Gallery of Modern Art, Mumbai and represented India at the Sao Paulo Biennale.

Following several murals in public spaces her latest large work now adorns the T3 Airport in Delhi.  Her paintings hang in major museum and private collections globally.  Three books, a portfolio by Lalit Kala Akademi and several films have been made on her.

The Asian Art Museum San Francisco held a solo show and accessioned her seminal work titled Yatra. She has been awarded the Chevalier des Arts by the French Government and the Padmashree by the government of India and the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Delhi government.

Dayawati Modi Award for Art, Culture and Education carries a prize of Rs. two lakh and fifty one thousand, the scroll of honour and a silver shield which will be presented to Anjolie Ela Menon on November 18th, 2013 at Shri Satya Sai Auditorium, Lodhi Road, New Delhi.
