Contours hosts Women’s Day Run 2014

The 5th edition of the Contours India- Women’s Day Run was held on March 2nd 2014, at the Sri Kanteerava Indoor Stadium, Bangalore.

The popular annual run event is hosted on the occasion of International Women’s day every year by Contours India, a women’s only fitness chain. The event is aimed at raising awareness on women’s empowerment and raising funds for
the Asha Foundation.

Contours India, the country’s first and leading international chain of women’s fitness studios, came up with this initiative 5 years ago to encourage the people of all ages to run on the occasion of International Women’s day to empower the Indian Woman.

Leading the way for decades of experiencing the world’s class marathon events, Bangalore is set as the ideal location for the Women’s Day Run to celebrate womanhood and bringing in change for the future of children. The event is powered by Performax by Reliance Trends and supported by Charity Partner - Asha Foundation.

The Run’s Charity partner Asha Foundation, a non-profit, volunteer-driven, zero-overhead organization will be handed over the proceeds from the run event to support the education of underprivileged children, specially the girl child, along with carrying out initiatives that help empower communities as a whole, so that these children have equal access to the best opportunities.

In recent years, with more than 25 marathons and ultra marathons under her belt Ms. Chandra Gopalan, Director - Contours India & a veteran marathon runner said, “On this occasion of International Women's day we come together to celebrate the spirit of womanhood and promote running for a healthier and better tomorrow.  As the host of the Women’s Day Run, I hope to create awareness for the various problems women of our society face today, and I wish for one and all to support the cause by participating and celebrating in this event. As the run is in all respects truly a celebration, and not a competition, We urge each citizen of Bangalore to come and run, walk, dance and have fun at this unique event.”
