Tech Mahindra Foundation inaugurates its 50th SMART Centre
The Noida-Ghaziabad region has witnessed high level of infrastructural development, including residential and commercial real estate construction which has
attracted heavy inflow of migrant workers from across India.
The foundation has partnered with ANK, based and working in Delhi NCR and rural areas of Bihar in India, to provide such youth/workers real-estate skills training, particularly in the areas of electrical and civil, including practical know-how, construction, safety supervisory among others.
With its SMART (Skills for Market Training) programme, Tech Mahindra Foundation trains the underprivileged youth in numerous sectors by improving the candidate’s overall job readiness, including self-confidence, English communication skills among others and connects them to potential employers for placement.
Conceptualized one and half years back, the SMART programme has gained significant momentum in such a short span of time and today operates 50 SMART centres across the country training over 12000 students thus far.
Mr. CP Gurnani, Managing Director & CEO, Tech Mahindra Ltd. said, “We are very happy and proud that Tech Mahindra Foundation’s SMART has grown to 50 centres and has been able to help twelve thousand children find meaningful employment thus far. We at Tech Mahindra are fully committed to offer every possible help and support to enable this wonderful programme to grow even further.”
Said Dr. Loveleen Kacker, CEO, Tech Mahindra Foundation, “We are very proud of what we have achieved through our SMART programme and its phenomenal growth since its inception just over 18 months ago.
