Research can influence the people and turn the world into a better place- Dr Mammen Chandy

The director of TATA Medical Centre, Dr. Mammen Chandy, who has been recently awarded for his contribution in the field of medicine addressed to an audience consisting of students pursuing both bio-technology and science where he talked about how the youth has been a reason in the means of
curing one of the most fearsome diseases in the world that is cancer, through their research works on medicines.

The ceremony was glorified by the Padma shree awardee, Dr.Mammen Chandy and six distinguished scientists from Tata Medial Canter Kolkata. The ceremoy started with the Vice Chancellor of Amity University Kolkata prof Dr. Dhrubajyoti Chattopadhyay, Dr. Mammen Chandy and the Head Of Institution of Biotechnology Dr. Santanu Palchaudhuri by watering a plant as a sign of decreasing the global warming along with an invocation to Lord Ganesha. This was followed by the felicitation of the chief guest, Dr. Chandy by the Vice Chancellor of Amity University, Kolkata.


 
Throughout the seminar, Dr. Chandy spoke about how important is research is for medicine in the field of science and how TATA Medical Centre is trying to provide different means of support to the people who are taking an interest in this form of research. The key objective of this seminar is to present the youth a clear image and motif in the research field, influencing them , how their hardwork and labour can turn the world into a better place.

The highlight of the event will be a poster presentation session by the final semester Bachelors and Masters students of Amity Institute of Biotechnology showcasing the research work done by them under the supervision of members of the department. In total, twenty eight posters will be presented describing the research work done by the UG and PG students of AUK.



The conference also aims to bring together researchers from Amity University, Kolkata and Tata Medical Center,Kolkata highlighting their inclination for a cooperative prosperity, also evident from the recently signed memorandum of understanding between the two institutes. BioScope-2019is the first step forward in fostering such a fruitful, conducive niche ultimately aimed at collaborative research projects and joint Ph.D. programs that the institutes envision to conduct in the near future.
