PCMC’s Coding Summer Camp concludes with 80 students showcasing tech innovation

The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s (PCMC) month-long Coding Summer Camp, organised at the Pimpri Chinchwad Science Park in collaboration with Leadership for Equity (LFE), concluded on a high note on Thursday, June 5. The initiative empowered 80 students from PCMC-run and private schools with

essential skills in coding, logical thinking, and creative problem solving.

Spanning five weeks and 45 hours of hands-on learning, the camp introduced children from Grades 3 to 9 to the world of block-based coding using Scratch, game and story design, and physical computing through circuits, LEDs, and sensors.

The grand finale of the camp was marked by a vibrant showcase where students presented interactive games, digital stories, and functional hardware prototypes that reflected their learning journey.

The learning assessment pre and post the summer showed a growth of 52% in students understanding of computational concepts.

Speaking at the conclusion of the camp, PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh said, “This camp was not just about learning how to code—it was about opening up a world of possibilities. By equipping our children with computational thinking and digital skills, we are preparing them to be confident, curious, and creative citizens of the future.”

The initiative received enthusiastic feedback from parents and students alike, with many calling for such programmes to be held regularly across the city.
