HealthCare At Home comes to Chandigarh

Healthcare will never be the same again. After winning hearts and providing solace to many in Delhi-NCR, HealthCare at Home (HCAH), a new facility that offers world class healthcare services in the comfort of home, has now come to Chandigarh.

HealthCare at Home has made at-home world class medical care
with utmost convenience a reality in India, changing the face of healthcare delivery forever. The new joint venture Company – HealthCare At Home is a result of the coming together of the Burman family, promoters of India’s leading natural health care products maker Dabur India Ltd, with Dr Gareth Jones and Charles Walsh, the founders of the UK-based Healthcare At Home, to introduce the concept of managed at-home healthcare services in India.

HCAH will work with hospitals, doctors and patients to offer critical healthcare services in oncology (cancer care), pulmonology (lung care), post-operative care (orthopedics, cardiac, bariatric -- weight loss surgeries -- etc), critical care and palliative care, to patients in the comfortable environment of their own homes.

Although homecare facilities are much in demand globally, the same is at a nascent stage in India. This joint venture seeks to bring about a major change in the realm of patient care in India by adapting global best practices to suit the specific needs of consumers in India. HealthCare at Home India has also added services such as maternity and elderly care to its portfolio.

Though nurses and care staff is still available in India to look after patients at home, HCAH is the first such institution that provides complete hospital care at home including ICU. The company provides the highest quality services delivered by well trained and experienced staff (specialist nurses, Health Care Assistants, nutritionists, counselors and physiotherapists). It also uses empanelled doctors when required.

A prolonged hospital stay is not an option that anybody would like, neither patients nor the family members. Besides hampering the will power of the patient, it also leads to major financial burden on the family. Yet, in the case of certain illnesses, there is but no option other than hospital care. HCAH offers an effective and affordable alternative in such cases.

“It’s a well-known fact that being at home can bring happiness on the faces of even the most critical of patients as they struggle through a chronic or acute disease. Critical care in the home is an affordable option. In fact, it is both financially affordable and psychologically important to keep elderly and ill family members in the familiarity of their homes as it is the ideal healing environment, where access to loved ones and familiar surroundings shortens recovery time. This can only be achieved through employing experienced, well-trained healthcare professionals delivering doctor-approved care protocols. We have already started services in Delhi where the people who have opted for our services are really satisfied and happy with the care their new and dear ones are getting at home under regular monitoring of doctors. Our availability in Chandigarh opens a new era in the field of the city’s healthcare services,” said Dr Gareth Jones, Chairman, HealthCare At Home India.

“We are delighted to foray into Chandigarh after scripting a successful story Delhi. With this, we aim to change the entire healthcare industry in India. The unmatched homecare facilities have changed the way people look at chronic ailments and their subsequent treatments that not only bother the patient but also his/her family. We have made a good start in Delhi-NCR and with a talented management team we look forward to replicating the same in Chandigarh and from here we will expand to entire Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh,”said Mr. Vivek Srivastava, CEO, HealthCare at Home India.

Why one would opt for homecare over traditional healthcare?
When someone in the family suffers from critical illness and requires constant medical intervention and supervision, homecare comes as the best possible option. Instead of expensive, time-consuming attendance at hospital, homecare is designed to better meet patient needs. Allowing the patient to be at home greatly improves their quality of life.

For every treatment, there is no need to travel to the hospital. The homecare services which can even handle critical patients save the patients from painful visits to hospitals.

After getting discharged from hospital, equal attention and care is required at home too. The period is sensitive for the patients and one can’t heave a sigh of relief after just stepping out of the hospital. Proper and diligent care at home after the release from hospital is important and it leads to speedy recovery of the patients too.

Patients who deal with chronic ailments on a day-to-day basis are always looking for mental and spiritual wellbeing in order to cope up with the difficulties in their lives; in such cases homecare facilities such as “HealthCare at Home” grant patients freedom, mental peace and a hassle-free lifestyle much to their convenience.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Charles Walsh, Founder and CEO of HealthCare at Home, said: “The Burman Family has been investing their personal capital in new businesses and joint ventures for the last 20 years, and we are honored to have had the opportunity to partner with many of the leading global corporates and business families to bring their brands, and business concepts to India. Healthcare is a sector in which we have a heritage and great interest. It is a sector in which India is at its early stages of growth and we are keen to invest aggressively in this sector. Health Care at Home India is a joint venture with entrepreneurs who have built a highly respected and successful brand in their home market, and we are delighted to have the opportunity in partnering with them and bring this venture to India. We believe that this venture will not only be successful but will have a beneficial influence on the healthcare industry in India.”

The services of HCAH are cost effective and saves patient from the hassle from travelling to hospitals for even small things. “As far as cost factors are concerned, Healthcare at Home will be an affordable choice for a lot of patients, who otherwise pay huge amounts to hospitals for medical facilities. So, cancer patients can now choose homecare for post-surgery treatments like radiation, chemotherapy, hormone therapy and biological therapy without having to get admitted to a hospital or hopping between places. Even pregnant women can opt for it pre- and post- the delivery customized care, especially in cases of high-risk pregnancies. Precisely, it is dream possibility for many patients in India suffering from various chronic diseases,” said Dr Gaurav Thukral, Head medical Services, HealthCare at Home.

“Staying at ICU away from family is very tormenting. During my hospital stay, I was tied to my bed with a ventilator and it seemed the end of life. When my condition improved and I was put off the ventilator, I was informed that I will have to spend one more month in ICU to come to proper shape. It pained me as spending even a single day was causing mental stress on me. There was a feeling to rush home, but that had never been possible as leaving ICU was completely at our own risk. Seeing my frustrating condition, my family subscribed to the specialized homecare facility being provided by HCAH. After moving to home, the recovery has been remarkable. Services of HCAH have come as a boon to all the patients who have been in ICU for long. To top all, the homecare services provide immense peace of mind,” said 76-year-old R K Sharma, whose family opted for HCAH’s ICU facility.
