Sun Life Asia Service Centre Annual Sports Day

Employees of Sun Life Financial’s Asia Service Centre India took a much-needed break from their action packed work schedules for a day to indulge in action of another kind– celebrating the Annual Sports Day of the organization with much enthusiasm and sporting spirit.

The Sports Day is a keenly awaited annual event at Sun Life, organized by the Health, Safety and Wellness Club, where employees and their families
participate whole heartedly in multiple games, turning sportspersons for a day.

The event not only provides a much-needed break from the hectic work activities of daily life, but also puts focus on physical fitness of employees and the need to maintain mental toughness. Family being a part of the event further strengthens the bond with the Company.

The day-long sports event was held at Thyagraj Stadium in New Delhi where the members of the Sun Life family started gathering early in the morning to put their sporting skills to test. The day-long activities included games and fun races for children and spouses as well.

The sporting events included races – 100 m, 400 m, and 100 x 4 relay. Employees also participated in a 2 km marathon, with Mr Naveen K Yadav & Sharanpreet emerging victorious.
Other games included doubles badminton and volleyball as well as family events. Sun Life India’s  Managing Director, Mr. Shiney Prasad gave away prizes to the winners.

For young children who turned up with their parents, the day was one of fun. They were made to engage in lemon & spoon race, three legged race, tug of war, sack race, book balancing etc.
The employees returned home recharged and rejuvenated to face the work challenges with enthusiasm and an I Can attitude.

“At Sun Life Asia Service Centre, we believe that our employees are part of an extended family whose overall well-being is our responsibility. We have a talented young generation work force and they need activities to engage and challenge them. Sports is just the right fit, where energy gets channelized positively and connect with the organization and fellow employees is a collateral benefit. The Annual Sports Day is an integral part of our employee engagement calendar. We look forward to the event with a lot of expectation. Employees and their families participate, showcase their talents, win prizes and we all have a lot of fun. Sports is an excellent vehicle for learning how to do your best and enjoy what you to do. If we can replicate the same sentiment at workplace, it can do magic.” says Mr. Rajeev Bhardwaj, Vice President-Human Resource at Sun Life Financial’s Asia Service Centre in Gurgaon.
