The Juice magazine launches its March Spring issue with cover girl Shruti Haasan, a refreshing southern belle with a unique indie streak. In a candid interview with Aniruddha Guha, shrugging off her parental legacy and blazing her own trail in Indian cinema.

interview. The 29-year-old debuted as a leading lady in 2009 , at a time when, she says, "she was not yet ready to be a film star" Just 22 then, Shruti was fresh off the boat from Los Angeles, where she studied at the Musicians Institute in California for three years.

“Maybe it was a divine plan: the maximum pressure came at a time when I didn’t even know it existed,” she says.

Shruti’s never seen in a casual light, so I really wanted to capture her young, carefree spirit. I decided to go with a psychedelic printed tank top from Indian by Manish Arora and a neon leather skirt by Alia Bhatt for Jabong. The neoprene bomber jacket by River Island gives the look an added edge.”
