India got installed its first ever Early Earthquake Warning and Security System

A foolproof early earthquake warning and security system is now available in India to save the lives at the time of natural calamity.

Terra Techcom Pvt. Ltd. in a joint venture with Secty Electronics Gmbh (a Germany based company) successfully got tested India’s first ever Early Earthquake Warning and Security System (Onsite) at CSIR-SERC (Structural Engineering Research Center), Chennai on
March 10, 2016 and later on successfully installed it in the Haryana Mini-Secretariat, Sector 17, Chandigarh on March 14, 2016. A public alarm system was also installed on the terrace of this seven-storied building which will trigger the six-horn siren within the radius of six kms. of the city beautiful.

A live demo of this device and public alarm system was also given before Additional Chief Secretary, Forests Department Haryana, Mr. Amit Jha; Secretary, Revenue & Disaster Management, Haryana, Mrs. Suprabha Dahiya; and other senior officers of the Haryana Government.

Addressing a press conference in New Delhi on Thursday, the Managing Director of Terra Techcom Pvt. Ltd., Mr. Bijender Goel said, “We have given the live demonstration on how the device grounded the elevators of the New Secretariat Building and activated alarms at every floor. We did this by creating artificial waves to the system. It can be used as public announcement system too.”

Mr Goel said that already, many corporate including IT giants and leading shopping malls have expressed interest to get the device installed in their premises. Keeping in view of the recent warning by the National Disaster Management Authority for a severe earthquake in near future, this system has become a necessity for the corporate houses, hotels, hospitals, shopping malls,  colleges, housing societies, power stations, railways, metro rail, airports, bridges and other sensitive installations.

Mr Goel said that we have apprised the Ministry of Earth Science, Government of India and National Disaster Management Authority about this successful testing and installation at Chandigarh for further necessary action in this regard. We appeal to the media to help in creating awareness among the people for their security and safety, keeping in view the warning of severe earthquake in near future as given by the Home Ministry.

Also present on this occasion, Mr Juergen Przybylak, Managing Director, Secty Electronics, Germany said, “The system developed by us is a complete and only system in the world for early earthquake warning along with all-in-one security features which could connect to building management system too. The system had been installed in more than 25 countries and is working accurately since 2006. It is an immediate and only solution for the people of India to act for their security and safety in case of severe earthquakes.”

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Chandan Ghosh, Head of National Institute of Disaster Management (GeoHazards Division), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, said “the device is the need of the hour, particularly in the light of recent earthquake in Uttarakhand and Nepal.” But at the same time I will appeal people to ensure the strength of the buildings at the time of construction to minimize the impact of tremor.
