BIMA installs ‘Make In India Engineering Lion’ in Mumbai

Cheif Minister of Mahrashtra Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the ‘Make In India Lion’ in an event organized by BIMA (Bombay Iron Merchants Association), where the lion was installed showcasing the power of Indian steel traders.

BIMA and a BIS action committee made a donation towards
drought affects areas - Rs 11,11,111 and Rs 1,11,011 respectively to Chief Minister drought relief fund.

As a part of supporting PM Narendra Modi’s ‘Make in India’ movement, BIMA (Bombay Iron Merchants’ Association) installed the Make in India Lion made of pure steel. It was a sign of strong support from Indian steel traders in this movement. The event was graced by presence of CM Devendra Fadnavis who also inaugurated the install. BIMA also presented a cheque of Rs 11, 11, 111 for support activities towards the drought affected areas in Maharashtra.

“Maharashtra has been a strong contributor to India’s economic success and to see the commitment from the business here to ensure ‘Make In India’ becomes a reality; makes me proud. Mumbai steel industry has always walked hand in hand with Government for state’s and nation’s growth and this Lion is a symbol of strength,” said CM Fadnavis while expressing his views on inauguration the ‘Make in India Engineering Lion’. This Lion is 7' in length, 4' in height and 2' in width. It weighs 1500 kg and is made of premium steel provided by BIMA.

BIMA president Ashok R Shah on this proud occasion said, “We have always stepped forward to back Government’s developmental policies and projects. This is our way of showing that we will continue doing that and also become inspiration for others to do the same. Let this ‘Make in India Engineering Lion’ become a loud reminder for every Indian to support this movement I every way.” Many renowned names from the steel industry also made their presence felt.

The event also raised awareness about the drought affected areas in Maharashtra and encouraged people to help the cause in every way possible. “While we have collectively donated a sum towards this cause, we wanted to ensure that our event inspired many others to do the same at their own level, too. The families who are affected due to severe drought once shed their sweat and blood to ensure we got enough food. Hence, they are our family, too and it’s our duty to help them,” signs off Shah.

The event was attended by Jaywantiben Mehta (Ex-Union Minister), Prakash Mehta (State Cabinet Minister for Housing, Mining and Labour), Raj K Purohit (MLA), Javed Juneja (Corporate B Ward) and Ajoy Mehta (The Municipal Commissioner MCGM).
