South Indian Bank sets a world record for Staging and swinging 101 `Oonjals’

South Indian Bank on Sunday bagged the world record for organising a first-of-its-kind category event by ‘Staging and Swinging 101 `Oonjals’ simultaneously’ at a single venue at Marine Drive in Kochi. The World Book of Records Team presented the Award to South Indian Bank officials. Mr. Murali Ramakarishnan, MD & CEO, South Indian Bank along with Mr. Thomas Joseph K, EVP & Group Business Head, South Indian Bank, received the World Book of Records certification.


The event ‘Onnichirikkam Oonjaladam’ saw a huge gathering of public to celebrate the unity and prosperity during the on-going festival season. The Chief guests for the event included, Mr. K Chandran Pillai, Chairman, GCDA and Mr. Shaji Daniel, CFO - CIAL. Film Actress Ms. Sheelu Abraham and  Ms. Sabeetta George, Television Artist were also present during the occasion.  South Indian Bank’s leadership team including Mr. Murali Ramakrishnan, MD & CEO, Mr. Thomas Joseph K, EVP & Group Business Head and Mr. Anto George T, Head HR & Admin were also present.

While lauding the efforts of South Indian Bank for organising such a first-of-its-kind event for the public, Mr. K Chandran Pillai, Chairman, GCDA, said “This is a unique occasion due to its distinctiveness. I sincerely appreciate South Indian Bank’s effort to recollect the childhood memories.”

Swings made using wood and rope in the traditional way attracted people from all walks of life, cutting across gender and generation. This special gathering by South Indian Bank was intended to introduce traditional festival art forms in a unique way to the new generation.

The event also had cultural programmes like `Chenda Melam’, musical performances by various bands including South Indian Bank’s own band and virtual reality experience zone for visitors.

South Indian Bank also expressed their gratitude to Mr. Santosh Shukla, Founder and CEO, World Book of Records for the support.
