Step into a world of stories and imagination at The Little Festival

The Little Festival, a literary event curated specially for children aged 8-14, in collaboration with the H T Parekh Foundation, will be held under the aegis of the 15th edition of Literature Live! The Mumbai Litfest on November 15 & 16 at the NCPA, Nariman

Point, Mumbai.

The festival will feature stories and sessions by Indian and international writers (the youngest being just 14). In addition, children’s books awards, lively performances, book swaps, workshops, and walk-and-write nature trails will provide a comprehensive literary experience for young visitors.

Listen to celebrated authors such as Appupen, Farrukh Dhondy, Jerry Pinto, Maddalena Vaglio Tanet, Marcus du Sautoy, Neha Singh, Payal Kapadia, and Vaishali Shroff, as they enthrall children with anecdotes and stories from their books and writing.

The ‘Doorbeen Library Tent’ will be set up on the NCPA grounds where children will engage in myriad forms of storytelling through dance, art, and movement, write about ‘Why books are a lot of fun,’ swap books which will help set up libraries in NGOs. The children can participate in workshops, nature trails, and entertaining performances curated specially for them.

Ziaa Lalkaka, CEO, H T Parekh Foundation said: “Partnering with the Little Festival marks a meaningful first for us, as it reflects our vision for ‘Doorbeen’, a Library & Literature initiative at H T Parekh Foundation, dedicated to building a culture of reading amongst children. Through Doorbeen, we are establishing school and community libraries, training library professionals, and developing quality children’s literature in regional languages. This collaboration offers a unique chance for children to engage with books, access workshops, and author talks in an interactive and inspiring way, thus fostering a lifelong love for reading.”

Senior Associate Festival Director Reena Agrawal who has curated The Little Festival said: “Reading and language feed the soul, and it is important for young people to experience this live, especially in an overwhelmingly digital age. We are delighted to hold The Little Festival with the support of the H T Parekh Foundation. It is a unique literary program for children where they can enjoy meeting authors in person, enlightening discussions on literature aligned to their age groups, myriad ways of telling stories through song and dance, and imaginative workshops.”

Literature Live! The Mumbai Litfest will be held from 15-17 November 2024 at the NCPA at Nariman Point.
