PADI Launches Hindi eLearning for Open Water Diver Certification in India
The Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) on February 26, 2026, in Mumbai announced that its globally recognised PADI Open Water Diver course eLearning programme is now available in
Hindi, aiming to remove language barriers for aspiring divers across India.PADI said the move makes it the first diver training organisation to offer course materials in Hindi, expanding access to scuba education in one of Asia’s fastest-growing adventure tourism markets. India’s long coastline and rising domestic travel have contributed to growing interest in recreational diving.
Popular destinations such as the Andaman Islands, Lakshadweep, Goa and Puducherry have seen a steady increase in Indian travellers seeking underwater experiences. However, many learners previously faced challenges understanding technical diving concepts delivered primarily in English.
With course material now offered in Hindi, students can study diving principles — including safety procedures, equipment usage, dive planning and underwater communication — through eLearning before completing confined and open water sessions with certified instructors at authorised centres nationwide.
“Scuba diving is for everyone, and language should never limit someone’s ability to learn or explore. By offering the PADI Open Water course in Hindi, we are making dive education more inclusive and accessible. This will empower more Indians to confidently take their first step into the underwater world,” said Vinod Bondi, Regional Manager – India, PADI.
PADI said the initiative aligns with its broader focus on inclusivity, sustainable tourism and marine conservation awareness as it continues to expand its presence in India’s growing ocean community.
