New Delhi: Adidas has unveiled the Hyperboost Edge, a new lightweight super-trainer designed to redefine everyday road running performance. The shoe combines maximum cushioning, high energy
return and lightweight construction, marking what the company describes as the beginning of a new era in road running footwear. The product will launch globally in a bold red colorway on March 17, 2026, at select retailers and on the brand’s official website, with additional colorways scheduled to arrive from May 1.
At the core of the Hyperboost Edge are three newly introduced technologies: the Hyperboost Pro midsole, a PRIMEWEAVE upper and a LIGHTTRAXION outsole. The shoe weighs just 255 grams and has been designed as the first lightweight non-plated super-trainer from Adidas, meaning it avoids rigid plates or stiffening elements typically found in performance footwear. Instead, the new foam midsole works naturally through the gait cycle, offering a propulsive yet comfortable ride for both daily runs and high-mileage training sessions. The shoe also features a 45mm rearfoot stack and a 6mm drop aimed at delivering enhanced cushioning and energy return.
The Hyperboost Pro foam was developed using advanced material research and laboratory testing, including consumer insights gathered through research conducted with the University of Cologne. In a study involving 60 runners, the Hyperboost Edge reportedly outperformed participants’ current footwear across several performance and comfort metrics. According to the findings, 73% of runners preferred its energy return, 77% perceived softer cushioning, and more than half said they favored its overall comfort, while a majority agreed it provided a better overall running experience.
The shoe also introduces a new design aesthetic for Adidas running footwear. Its high-stacked midsole silhouette highlights the Hyperboost Pro technology beneath the foot, while the brand’s iconic three stripes are placed directly on the midsole for the first time in Adidas running shoes. The PRIMEWEAVE upper provides a soft, lightweight fit with integrated heel pods for added stability, while the LIGHTTRAXION outsole—drawing inspiration from the Adizero performance line—delivers grip and traction across varying running conditions.
Commenting on the launch, Patrick Nava, GM adidas Running, said: “We wanted to bring something truly transformative to runners. Hyperboost Edge is where the Power of Three comes to life—cushioning, energy, and lightness combined seamlessly in one shoe. By harnessing these three elements without compromise, we’ve created a supertrainer that feels light on foot, responsive through every stride, and cushioned under impact—supporting runners across all types of mileage. This is just the beginning of what Hyperboost Pro can unlock across our performance portfolio.”
Priced at ₹19,999 in India, the Hyperboost Edge will be available through Adidas retail stores and the company’s official online platform starting March 17, with additional colorways and product drops planned from May 1.
