IT ISM Dhanbad, OMC Sign MoU to Boost Mining Innovation

IIT (ISM) Dhanbad-TEXMiN Foundation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Odisha Mining Corporation to strengthen capacity building and innovation in India’s mining sector. The

agreement focuses on advancing academic collaboration, research, and the adoption of safe and sustainable mining practices.

The partnership aims to enhance managerial capabilities and create a continuous learning ecosystem for mining professionals. It will also promote research-driven innovation, policy training, and digital transformation initiatives to improve operational efficiency and safety standards across the sector.

Speaking on the collaboration, Prof. Dheeraj Kumar, Dy Director, IIT (ISM) Dhanbad and Project Director, TEXMiN Foundation, said, “This partnership with Odisha Mining Corporation reflects our shared commitment to building future-ready capabilities for the mining sector. By combining academic excellence, translational research, and industry engagement, we aim to create a robust framework for professional development, innovation, and technology-led transformation that supports safer, smarter, and more sustainable mining operations in India.”

The MoU outlines initiatives such as Management Development Programmes, short-term courses, and collaborative projects. It also includes technical support for digital adoption, productivity improvement, and the development of safe, smart, and sustainable mining systems in line with evolving industry needs.
