SAHIT Conference Honors Women Leaders, Unveils Key Workforce Participation Report

The second annual conference of SAHIT was held in New Delhi, bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, and innovators to advance women’s participation in the workforce. The event featured the release of the SAHIT Knowledge Report and the felicitation of women achievers and organizations contributing

to gender inclusion. Jitendra Singh attended as Chief Guest and led the awards ceremony.

The Knowledge Report, unveiled by Dr. Subi Chaturvedi alongside key dignitaries including Dr. Parvinder Maini, Debjani Ghosh, and Kavita Bhatia, highlighted critical gaps in workplace inclusion. Among its findings, the report noted that while 57% of women benefit from inclusive workplace policies, fewer than one-third are adequately aware of them, pointing to gaps in communication. It also underscored the potential for a 27% GDP increase if gender disparities in workforce participation are addressed.

Addressing the gathering, Jitendra Singh said, “Platforms like SAHIT are extremely important for promoting women in decision-making roles and establishing role models that can inspire a generation of female innovators and pathbreakers. Owing to Hon’ble PM’s vision, we are quickly moving from development from women to women-led development of the nation. Sahit will be an important proponent for that. I congratulate Dr. Subi Chaturvedi for creating such a relevant platform and wish her all the best as she continues to chart new territory in the space and influence young women to dream big, work in STEM fields and aspire for excellence ”.

Dr Subi Chaturvedi, Founder of SAHIT, said, “If India is to remain at the forefront of the digital economy, we don’t need only more women in the workforce, but women in critical decision-making roles shaping policy, platforms, and capital flows.” Highlighting the systemic shifts required to secure India's techade and highlighting SAHIT’s importance, she further said, “SAHIT is our dedicated effort to bridge that gap, ensuring half of the nation’s population can purposefully contribute toward nation-building and the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047. We are deeply committed to celebrating role models and plugging the leaky pipeline for women in STEM and girls in ICT.”

During the ceremony, SAHIT Icon Awards were presented to leading figures including Dr. Parvinder Maini, Debjani Ghosh, Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, and Kavita Bhatia, alongside recognition of 17 women achievers and eight partner organizations. The event reinforced SAHIT’s role as a collaborative platform driving inclusive growth and strengthening women’s leadership across sectors in India.
