BharatBox, an India focused metaverse venture between The Sandbox and Brinc, and GOQii, a smart-tech-enabled health and wellness platform have come together today to launch the country's first-of-its-kind health and wellness platform in the metaverse. This innovative partnership will allow users to explore a fully immersive digital world, blending physical wellness routines with cutting-edge metaverse
experiences, all powered by the Universal Health Token (UHT).This collaboration between GoQii and BharatBox, enabling a smart-tech health ecosystem within the metaverse, will adopt UHT to gamify preventive healthcare. This will further allow users to earn tokens for healthy actions, access health services, and benefit from a rewards system that encourages wellness-focused behaviors.
As India rapidly embraces the potential of the metaverse, this collaboration is poised to set a new benchmark for how technology, health, and preventive care can converge in a digital environment. This initiative brings forth experiences tailored specifically for Indian users, seamlessly integrating fitness, mental well-being, and nutrition into an interactive metaverse space.
The Universal Health Token will incentivize healthy behaviors by rewarding individuals for engaging in preventive healthcare activities. It is an ERC-20 standard token on the Ethereum network that will be utilized across various platforms for earning rewards through fitness achievements, purchasing health services, accessing healthcare consultations, and participating in decentralized governance (DAO) within the ecosystem.
At the core of this partnership is the vision of bringing preventive healthcare to millions of Indian users. Through GOQii’s already extensive ecosystem—which includes wearables, personalized coaching, and health insurance—the new metaverse platform will add a digital layer to users' wellness journeys. Following this, BharatBox with its metaverse expertise, enables the creation of an immersive, culturally relevant, and localized experience for the Indian users. The goal is to unlock the full potential of a decentralized, user-driven digital universe, offering not only interactive spaces for fitness and wellness but also community-driven experiences where users can engage, compete, and grow together, fostering a unique blend of social interaction and health management.
India’s digital ecosystem is experiencing an exponential rise in metaverse adoption, driven by increased internet penetration, a tech-savvy population, and growing investment in Web3 infrastructure. The metaverse market is growing at an annual rate of 13.93% globally, with India emerging as one of the leading hubs. According to recent reports, India ranks among the top five countries globally contributing to metaverse development, alongside the United States, the UK, Germany, and Canada. This surge is fueled by strong growth in employment, innovation, and investment, with over 26,000 companies operating in the metaverse space and the sector boasting of 27,000 patents worldwide. This context sets the stage for BharatBox and GOQii entry into the health-focused metaverse experience. With over 1 million global employees working in the metaverse sector and $1.8 billion in investments, the partnership stands on fertile ground for mass adoption.
Karan Keswani, CEO of BharatBox stated on the occasion that "Our partnership with GOQii is grounded in the remarkable growth trajectory of both the Indian metaverse and the wellness industry. India’s digital health sector alone is projected to grow with the total count of recognized startups in the healthcare and life sciences space experiencing a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 127% between 2016 and 2023. By integrating wellness into the metaverse, we’re tapping into a market that’s set to contribute billions in the near future from metaverse-focused opportunities.”
Following this, the Force of Good Foundation that is behind the creation of the UHT in collaboration with GOQii, will play a critical role in aligning UHT with GOQii and BharatBox by fostering a global movement towards incentivized healthcare, connecting the platforms through shared values of promoting preventive health, and using blockchain technology to deliver secure, user-driven healthcare experiences in the metaverse.
Agastya Samat, Director of the Force of Good Foundation also said, "This partnership leverages two key trends: the exponential rise of the metaverse and the increasing demand for accessible preventive healthcare. The metaverse sector is increasingly adding jobs globally, indicating both a booming industry and growing user engagement. With this collaboration with BharatBox and integrating Universal Health Token (UHT) into our platform, we’re addressing a global shift towards incentivized health behaviour. Early projections show that tokenized ecosystems like ours could further increase user engagement, which is crucial as we scale to meet the evolving needs of Indian users, especially in a market where digital transformation in healthcare is now a key policy focus."
