Pimpri (Pune): “The Robotics Lab will prove useful in providing students with hands-on experience in the worlds of science, technology, innovation, and artificial intelligence, thereby enhancing their skills. This laboratory is not just about teaching technology – it is about helping students solve problems, giving space for their creativity, and encouraging them to participate in the future economy with confidence. Through
this Robotics Lab, it will be possible to train students in robotics, electronics, and programming, enabling them to develop innovations,” said Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh. On Friday, coinciding with Independence Day celebrations, Shekhar Singh inaugurated the state-of-the-art Robotics Lab established for students at Pimpri-Chinchwad Science Park through the joint efforts of Leadership for Equity and Robotex India. Present on the occasion were Science Park’s Founding Director Praveen Tupe, CEO Dr. Shraddha Khaparia, Leadership for Equity’s Founder and CEO Madhukar Reddy Banuri, COO Damini Mainkar, and Robotex India’s Operations Head Manisha Sawant, among others.
Leadership for Equity had recently set up a state-of-the-art Computer Science Coding Lab at the Science Park. Students from nearby schools have been learning block-based coding and creating various projects and animations. Now, with the establishment of this advanced Robotics Laboratory in partnership with Robotex India, students in Pimpri-Chinchwad will have even more opportunities. “This will enable them to learn robotics and programming in greater depth, leading them to create new innovations and broaden their perspective,” expressed Damini Mainkar.
Under this initiative, students will also be trained to participate in robotics competitions. Exciting categories such as the Entrepreneurship Challenge, Line Follower, Maze Solver, and Girls Fire Fight will be included. “These competitions will not only enhance students’ technical abilities but also help them develop teamwork, leadership skills, and problem-solving capabilities,” said Manisha Sawant.
To ensure the sustainability of this initiative, teacher training and mentoring programs will also be conducted. Selected school teachers will receive specialized training to guide students in the lab, ensuring that the learning process continues even after the workshops end and that long-term impact is achieved, explained Dr. Shraddha Khaparia.
