Vaaree Home Index 2025: Indian Homes Embrace Intentional Styling with 270% Surge in Storage, 64% Rise in Wall Décor
National, February 16, 2026: Vaaree has released its first annual Vaaree Home Index 2025, a data-driven report tracking how Indian households are styling and optimising their living spaces.
Compiled from aggregated insights across more than 500,000 customers, 100,000+ products, 48 home categories and 50 million browsing sessions, the report maps emerging behavioural trends in Indian home consumption. The findings point to a clear move away from large-scale renovations toward smaller, intentional upgrades as homes increasingly function as workplaces, social hubs and personal retreats.
Storage and Wall Décor Lead Growth
According to the report, wall décor adoption rose 64% year-on-year, making it the most common starting point for home styling upgrades. The Home Storage & Organisation category recorded 270% growth, signalling a shift from purely functional storage to aesthetically integrated solutions.
Ambient lighting also saw significant traction, with lamp adoption increasing 70%, reflecting a growing preference for mood-led environments. Rugs and carpets recorded over 102% growth in gross merchandise value (GMV), while the average selling price of cushion covers rose 42%, suggesting higher consumer willingness to invest in comfort-oriented purchases.
Notably, browsing curated “Looks” generated 580% higher conversion rates compared to traditional product-led discovery, underscoring a shift toward coordinated, cross-category styling.
Coordinated Styling Replaces Isolated Purchases
The Home Index highlights a structural change in buying behaviour: consumers are increasingly designing spaces holistically rather than purchasing décor items in isolation.
Walls have emerged as key canvases for expression, with traditional art styles such as Pichwai and Madhubani gaining popularity alongside macramé, Jharokha-inspired elements and symbolic motifs including the Lotus, Evil Eye and Tree of Life.
Storage racks, shelves and organisers are now being incorporated as visible design features. Lighting, too, is being used to define work, relaxation and hosting zones within the same space.
Regional Trends Show Rising Design Confidence
The report also identified distinct regional patterns. Mumbai ranked highest across Style, Comfort and Space-Saver indices, while Jaipur climbed four positions year-on-year to become the country’s second most stylish city. Bangalore led in adoption of functional, space-saving solutions.
Emerging cities such as Indore, Lucknow and Nagpur recorded some of the fastest growth in styling adoption, suggesting rising design experimentation beyond major metropolitan markets.
Founder Commentary
“Indian homes today are evolving through everyday decisions rather than large renovations,” said Garima Luthra, Co-founder of Vaaree. “We’re seeing a move toward intentional living, where comfort, organisation and personal expression hold equal importance.”
Co-founder Varun Vohra added that consumers are increasingly building coordinated environments rather than purchasing décor items independently — a shift that could influence retail discovery and home industry design strategies.
Outlook
The report identifies several forward-looking themes, including storage solutions that combine functionality with aesthetics becoming baseline expectations; modular, corner-led upgrades replacing full-room makeovers; and comfort evolving into a multi-sensory experience combining lighting, texture and visual calm. Tier-2 cities are also expected to play a more prominent role in shaping home styling trends.
