IIT Mandi Launches HIMSHIKHAR 2026 Summer Programme for Tech Skills
IIT Mandi has announced the launch of its first two-month residential summer programme, HIMSHIKHAR 2026, aimed at equipping students and young professionals with industry-relevant skills. Offered through its Centre for Continuing Education, the programme is designed to bridge the gap
between academic learning and real-world industry requirements.The programme will provide an immersive on-campus experience, allowing participants to work on practical projects under the guidance of faculty members and industry experts. Structured across 190 hours, it includes 100 hours of faculty-led sessions, 50 hours of tutorials by PhD scholars, and 40 hours of sessions conducted by industry professionals.
HIMSHIKHAR 2026 will cover five key tracks, including Software Development with AI, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Agentic AI Systems, Data Science, and Entrepreneurship and Venture Building. These tracks are aimed at building expertise in emerging technologies and fostering innovation-driven thinking among participants.
Speaking on the launch, Prof. Tushar Jain, Head of the Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) at IIT Mandi, said, “HIMSHIKHAR 2026 programme combines academic rigor, national skilling infrastructure, and outcome-driven training for learners. Every module emphasises building, problem-solving, and working with real tools, guided by practitioners, and faculty who understand industry demands.”
Candidates who have passed Class 12 or equivalent are eligible to apply. The selection process includes an online application, an entrance test assessing analytical abilities, and a counselling round for shortlisted candidates. The programme offers a total of 1,250 seats across all tracks.
The programme is scheduled to begin in May 2026, with reporting from May 16 and classes commencing from May 18. With this initiative, IIT Mandi aims to strengthen its role in developing future-ready talent in high-demand technology and entrepreneurship domains.
