USC Partners ATMC to Offer Degrees to International Students

One of Australia’s fastest growing regional universities, University of Sunshine Coast (USC) has entered into a ground-breaking partnership with the country’s leading higher education provider the Australian Technical and Management College (ATMC), which will allow the institution provide education and degrees to international students outside its
campus.

The partnership will help USC turn into a mainstream university for international students who will now be able to get degrees from the institution outside Queensland state where it is located.

With this partnership, USC is set to enroll its first international students in the heart of Melbourne, Victoria at the start of the March 2016 semester. The international students will be able to enroll in USC programs at a new ATMC facility in Melbourne.

With a large number of international students, including those from India, concentrated in Victoria state especially Melbourne, this ground-breaking development will allow the University to tap into a greater share of international students. University officials say the step was partly in response to student demand from India and Nepal.

The announcement to this effect was made at an event in New Delhi attended by top officials from both institutions including Professor Greg Hill, Vice-Chancellor and President, USC Melbourne;     Dr. Scott Snyder, Chief Operating Officer, USC Melbourne; Professor Robert Elliot, Pro Vice Chancellor (International and Quality), USC Melbourne; Dr. Manish Malhotra, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, ATMC and Mr. Gregory Simmons, Executive Director, ATMC.

“Students in India value degrees from Australian universities and are very interested in studying in our metropolitan areas. USC Melbourne will kick off with eight degrees, both undergraduate and postgraduate, in areas such as Business, Accounting and Information and Communications Technology. This exciting expansion follows the growing success of our USC SouthBank campus in Brisbane,” said USC Vice-Chancellor Professor Greg Hill.

USC is the ATMC’s third Australian university partner, along with Federation University Australia and Charles Darwin University.

Australia remains a favored destination for education among Indian students. An estimated 50,000 Indian students gain admissions in Australian universities every year.

ATMC Chief Executive Officer Dr Manish Malhotra said he was delighted with the commencement of the partnership.

“USC is an outstanding, progressive Australian public university with a commitment to graduate outcomes and excellence in teaching, which will make it a perfect partner in attracting international higher education students to Victoria. This will also be highly beneficial to Indian students who now have another institution in Victoria to get their degrees from,” he said.

ATMC has more than 2,400 international students enrolled across seven campuses in Melbourne, Geelong and Sydney with offshore campuses in Sri Lanka and Malaysia.

Professor Hill said ATMC staff would deliver USC’s programs using the personalized, face-to-face teaching methods that had helped rank USC in the top 20 percent of Australian universities for teaching quality every year for the past 10 years (‘The Good Universities Guide’). The degrees which will be offered by USC Melbourne in 2016 are discussed below:

Bachelor of Business, Bachelor of Business (Tourism, Leisure and Event Management), Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting), Bachelor of Information and Communications Technology, two Masters of Business Administration (MBAs), MBA/Master of International Business and Master of Professional Accounting.
