KERALA GOVERNMENT AWARDS GRACE MARKS FOR STUDENTS WHO READ

Kerala Education Minister V. Sivankutty has announced that students will now receive 10 grace marks in the SSLC examinations for reading. This new policy will be implemented starting from the current

academic year.

In an effort to cultivate reading habits among students, the Kerala government has introduced a new policy awarding 10 grace marks to students who read, announced Education Minister V. Sivankutty. He made this announcement while delivering the presidential address at the 30th National Reading Festival's state-level inauguration, organized by the P.N. Panicker Foundation.

Minister V. Sivankutty stated that the notion of providing grace marks for reading came from conversations with editors and education professionals. To be eligible for these marks, students must read newspapers, magazines, and books and keep a written record of their reading. The minister highlighted that teachers will play an important role in monitoring and evaluating the reading activities, assuring the initiative's success.
