Started in January 2012, Fortis Noida is the only hospital in U.P to have a successfully running liver transplant program.
The 50th liver transplant was challenging as the patient weighed 120 kg. In most cases, for an overweight patient two donors are required. However, the team of doctors at Fortis Noida successfully
managed the transplant with a single donor. The patient has recovered very well after the surgery.
Dr. Vivek Vij, Program Director, Liver Transplant, Fortis Hospital Noida, said, “Fortis Hospital, Noida has carved a niche for itself in complex liver transplant surgeries where patients and donors are living a healthy and normal life after the transplant. This milestone is an achievement to further our efforts and we look forward to more success stories in future. We hope to provide many more patients easy access to liver transplants through our innovative techniques.”
He further stated, “Our Centre for Advanced Surgery and Research (CASR) is a dedicated unit for treatment of liver, biliary tract, pancreas, upper and lower gastrointestinal tract diseases with the latest surgical and best techniques available in the country. We have handled the most complex and challenging casesof liver transplants, having done a transplant of a 10 year child old to a 65 year old man.”
