NICMAR’s Bharat Nav-Nirmaan Challenge Delhi Finale Showcases Student Infrastructure Innovations

The Delhi City Finale of the Bharat Nav-Nirmaan Challenge, organised by NICMAR, concluded on February 26, 2026, in New Delhi, with over 20 undergraduate engineering and architecture teams

presenting innovative solutions to real-world infrastructure and built environment challenges.

The competition brought together students from leading institutions across Delhi NCR as part of a structured, multi-stage national platform focused on the Construction, Real Estate, Infrastructure and Project (CRIP) sectors. Participants showcased projects aimed at addressing pressing infrastructure needs through technically sound and practically viable concepts.

Entries were evaluated by a jury that included representatives from GMR Group and C P Kukreja Architects, who assessed submissions on innovation, feasibility, scalability and industry relevance. The organisers noted strong integration of engineering fundamentals with real-world implementation thinking.

Congratulating the winners of the Delhi City Round and highlighting the importance of such challenges, Dr Tapash Kumar Ganguli, Director-General, NICMAR, said, “Participating students in this round showcased bold ambition backed by sharp engineering and design thinking. The solutions presented at the Delhi City Finale demonstrated ideas capable of transforming India’s built environment, reflecting the core objective of the Bharat Nav-Nirmaan Challenge, to provide young engineering minds early exposure to real-world infrastructure problem statements.”

The top three positions were secured by Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, School of Planning and Architecture Delhi and Delhi Technological University. The winning teams will advance to the regional round, competing with qualifiers from other cities. Supported by the All India Council for Technical Education, the challenge has evolved into a major student innovation platform with prizes worth Rs 30 lakh.
